When visits are limited, the goal is not to do everything. It is to notice the few things that are difficult to judge remotely and expensive to ignore.

Every visit

  • Walk the property slowly and inspect representative areas.
  • Check irrigation, pumps, tanks and water records.
  • Review crops with the person responsible for daily care.
  • Inspect tools, inputs, storage and safety concerns.
  • Photograph the same observation points each visit.

Before and during the monsoon

Review drains, roofs, paths, supports and electrical safety before the rain. During the monsoon, inspect water movement, erosion, waterlogging, weed pressure and access routes.

After the monsoon and through winter

Assess plant growth, damaged structures, stored water and the next planting window. Compare what happened with the assumptions in the original plan.

During summer

Review water levels, irrigation uniformity, shade, mulch, fire risk and drinking water for people and animals.

A checklist supports consistency, but it cannot replace a trusted local person who observes the farm between visits and knows when to report a change.
