      "text": "At Shahbad, rainfall, river water for irrigation and the overhead canopy of an Amla plantation supported encouraging growth. At several other locations, inadequate rain and unreliable irrigation left the crop struggling."

      "text": "The contrast has changed how we are planning the next season. It has also reminded us to separate what looks promising in the field from what we can establish at harvest."

      "text": "What we planted - and what happened"
    },

      "text": "We planted Rajendra Sonia turmeric across multiple locations. The main difficulties were:"

        "Interrupted water supply: Fields without reliable micro-irrigation suffered setbacks in vegetative growth.",

      "text": "These are our field observations, not proof that one cause explains every result. Rainfall can affect pests, but dry weather alone does not identify the species or explain its population. Soil and irrigation-water tests are needed to establish the nature and extent of suspected salt problems."

      "text": "How we responded during the season"
    },

      "text": "We used Vriksha Ayurveda-based preparations in an effort to support crop recovery before winter."
    },
    {

      "text": "Our interventions included formulations described in our field work as zeatin-based and IAA-based, intended to support growth and root activity. We also trialled custom organic buffers where crusting and suspected salt stress were concerns."
    },

      "text": "These were farm interventions, not a recipe for readers to copy. Their composition, suitability and effect need to be assessed separately. The presence of plant-growth substances does not by itself establish an input's organic status."

      "text": "Dissolving a salt crust is not the same as removing salts from the root zone. A salinity response needs to consider water quality, drainage and test results; an amendment alone cannot be assumed to remove the problem."

      "text": "The contrast we could see"

      "text": "Fields with automated drip irrigation and good bed management showed vegetative growth that we considered comparable to the better-watered Shahbad location."

      "text": "That is an encouraging observation, but not yet a yield comparison."

      "text": "A healthy-looking canopy matters. Rhizome yield, quality, water use and production cost will complete the picture."

      "text": "What we are changing"
    },
    {

      "text": "1. Plan for both water shortage and excess"
    },
    {
      "type": "paragraph",
      "text": "Our direction is to equip cropping areas with dependable micro-irrigation and suitable drainage, guided by each site's assessment. The previous season's excessive rain is part of that decision too."
    },

      "text": "Drip systems still need reliable water, appropriate filtration, maintenance and scheduling. Drainage needs a safe route and an understanding of downstream effects."
    },

      "text": "For our turmeric programme, relying on rainfall alone has become too uncertain. That is a decision about our crop and conditions - not a conclusion that every seasonal crop across Rajasthan requires the same system."

      "text": "2. Expand canopy-based trials carefully"
    },
    {
      "type": "paragraph",
      "text": "The Amla-turmeric combination at Shahbad gives us a reason to trial more multi-tiered planting. We will need to account for shade, root competition, water and harvesting access rather than copy the arrangement everywhere."
    },

      "text": "3. Review the proposed pest-control routine"
    },
    {

      "text": "Our proposal includes regular high-pressure foliar applications of fermented botanical preparations to disturb pest activity. Before making that routine, it needs pest-specific assessment: pressure can damage plants, spread some problems and affect useful organisms, while botanical preparations are not automatically harmless."
    },

      "text": "The decision should follow identification, crop condition and monitored results - not simply the absence of rain."
